Embracing The Freedom of Expression.

I created this piece having NO idea how I was going to get what I had envisioned onto canvas. I will usually ponder over several reference photos and days of mapping out a painting but this time I just couldn’t hold onto the idea any longer. I had scrapped the idea of looking up references so I picked up my paint brush laid out my paints & just let my mind do the speaking & planning for once.

Artist Statement:

This piece is an exploration of strength, femininity, and connection to nature. The central figure embodies a powerful presence, her gaze unwavering and bold. Her braided hair, adorned with soft highlights, symbolizes resilience and tradition, intertwining with the surrounding floral elements to reflect a harmony between identity and the natural world.

The rich, textured red background represents passion and depth, while the delicate flowers introduce a contrast—soft yet untamed, much like the essence of the subject. Through expressive brushstrokes and a fusion of warm and earthy tones, this painting captures the duality of vulnerability and power.

Some of my work often draws from themes of self-expression, cultural heritage, and inner strength. This piece, in particular, invites viewers to embrace their own complexities, to see themselves in the balance between softness and fortitude.
